        CMS School Board, District 5

THANK YOU!

If you are one of the over 10,000 people who voted for me, I sincerely thank you! If you are one of the several hundred volunteers, endorsers, supporters, and donors, I want to offer a HUGE Thank You!

We fought a long, hard and honest race. But, we  couldn't overcome a well funded opponent who ran an aggressive campaign and got a big head start in lining up voters, contributors and supporters.

It is worth noting I was the second highest vote-getter among the 19 School Board candidates across all 6 CMS Districts. I just happened to be in the same District as the top vote-getter. I appreciate your support and am humbled by your belief in me.

I plan to stay involved in some capacity after a short break. I am passionate about improving the academic achievement of the children in our community.

The following has not been updated since the election:

I will put teachers, students, and parents ahead of the CMS bureaucracy. With five children, two of whom are teachers, I understand the importance of this more than most. I will remain accessible and work closely with everyone in District 5 once elected, but I will not create a layer of bureaucracy between me and voters as my opponent plans to do.

A Word About My Endorsements

I have a long list of current and former elected officials and community leaders who have endorsed my campaign. I have a much longer list of supporters. However, with few exceptions, I don't list them on my web site or campaign literature. I made that decision during my campaign for County Commissioner At Large last year.

However, three elected officials who are particularly important to District 5 residents have strongly endorsed my campaign. Ruth Samuelson, North Carolina State House Representative and former District 5 County Commissioner, Neil Cooksey, District 5 County Commissioner, and Kaye McGarry, Vice Chair of the Board of Education, will still be in office after this election. If you elect me to the School Board, I will work closely with each to improve the education of our children.

  • Please take a minute to look at my Family Photos.  I've worked hard for my children and am enormously proud of who they've become.

  • Finally, please click on one of the buttons to the right if you like to Contribute Now, Volunteer Now, or Tell a Friend about the web site. We need a lot of resources to reach the over 100,000 voters in District 5, and any help is truly appreciated.

We all deserve a change from the status quo.

You have my commitment to serve you with integrity, passion, thoughtful discourse, and strong values. That has been my 25 year history both personally and professionally.

District 5 deserves a School Board representative who truly champions the concerns of children, parents, and taxpayers. I'm committed to 'making CMS work for ALL of us'.
